Thanks to focused training and technological improvements, the rate of traffic encounters have declined at a swift pace over the years. In the technological department, being the first flight training entity in the U.S. to install a radar-like display in the cockpit for real-time traffic information (ADS-B) in 2004 was especially what gave us the edge in countering traffic separation problems. The improved situational awareness and enables our pilots to keep a safe distance from other aircraft and navigate with more obstacle separation.

Our notable safety record over the years is proof that we never tire of addressing causes and, with vigilance and diligence, accept their presence. That's what all the reporting and trending of incident and accident data is about: to raise awareness, understand the underlying hazards, and mitigate the risks proactively.

Let me summarize by expressing my absolute belief that this great Flight Department and its management, employees, pilots, and maintenance technicians have done an outstanding job in providing flight training of the highest quality and with utmost emphasis on safety over the years -- and will continue to do so after my departure.

«Safety is doing the right thing -- even when nobody looks!»
