After being pulled over on Willow Creek Road for speeding, a female Embry-Riddle soccer player was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana.
Brianna Hill, a Global Security and Intelligence Studies junior, was pulled over on Feb. 25, 2006 after a Prescott Police Department officer stopped her vehicle after observing it traveling at 49 mph in a 35 mph zone.
According to the police report, the officer recognized Hill's name as a female "Embry-Riddle student who possibly was selling drugs to students on campus". According to the Campus Safety report, numerous sources led the Prescott Police Department to believe Hill was dealing marijuana.
After obtaining Hill's permission, the officer requested her passengers to get out of the car while he searched it. Inside the vehicle, the officer noted that the carpet and floor mats were, "infested with marijuana particles." A "usable quantity" of marijuana was discovered beside the passenger seat when the seat was slid forward. The officer then requested a K9 officer to assist with the search. The Prescott Valley Police Department K9 officer that responded alerted on the particles on the floor mats and underneath the passenger seats.
Hill was then given a field sobriety test and arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and being impaired to the slightest degree.
For having the marijuana in her vehicle, she was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Prescott Police then requested assistance from Embry-Riddle Campus Safety to search Hill's room. Hill's roommate was present during the search but was not aware of Hill's whereabouts that night. Nothing was found in her dorm room.
Previously, Prescott Police searched an off-campus apartment, reportedly where Hill stored some of her belongings. Officers witnessed an individual attempting to flush drugs down a toilet to avoid apprehension and later found drugs within the apartment.
During an interview with officials, the owner of the apartment stated that she "does not use or condone the use of drugs" and that she no longer associated with Hill for this reason.
