Witnesses reported seeing N13514, a Cessna 172 registered and operated by Skyschool Inc., resting on its right wing with its right main and nose gear collapsed.
According to the FAA accident report, the aircraft "lost control and veered off the right side of the runway into a ditch."
Winds at the time of the accident were reported as being from the east at 16 miles per hour, gusting to 22 miles per hour.
Witnesses stated other aircraft were landing and departing from the same runway prior to the incident without any abnormalities.
Initial reports from the fire department indicated that the occupants of the aircraft were out and walking around and no injuries were officially reported.
A representative from Skyschool was unavailable for comment at press time.
This is Skyschool's second accident in the past four months. On Nov. 7, 2005, N2111P, a Piper Warrior operated by Skyschool Inc. crashed near Payson, Ariz. The sole-occupant, a private pilot, reportedly told air traffic control, "I think my tanks are dry," according to the NTSB report. The aircraft was destroyed on impact but the pilot did not suffer any serious injuries.
