The Lower Hanger was packed tight from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on March 16 as students looked for some rest and relaxation at the Pre-Spring Break Party.

As students walked in Heidi Bergeron, Director of Student Activities greeted them with a raffle ticket and a small blue Embry-Riddle nalgene bottle.

All the tables were full with games of Texas Hold 'Em, Blackjack, Jeopardy and even Uno. "I've just played the longest Uno game ever," said freshmen Alex Nutting after winning an Uno game that took over and hour and half. If there was an empty spot at a table it was quickly filled by students who were waiting to jump in.

Faculty and staff could be found manning the tables and playing the role of dealers. Capt. Darrell Charbeneau of Air Force ROTC could be seen at the card tables and Leah Richwine of Accounting was playing the role of host Alex Trebek at the Jeopardy table.

Students were also cheering and competing in the ping-pong and ice hockey tournaments that were taking place at opposite sides of the Hanger.

Music filled the air as the DDR or Dance-Dance Revolution game was playing on the big screen with students showing their best dance moves. Wrestler Joffre Lander could be seen competing and tearing up the floor.

If students weren't dancing or competing in ice hockey they could be found at the food counter. The food counter had a variety of food that consisted of nacho cheese with chips, brownie bits, pretzels, and bread chips. SGA donated a variety of sodas that students gladly took advantage of. "The Pre-Spring Break Party was a great chance to get away before spring break," said sophomore Kensie Oakley, "and I loved the brownie bits, but the nacho cheese could have been better."

One great incentive for students to play the games and win was the door prizes. If you won a game or placed in the top three you were eligible to win one of the main prizes.

The prizes were on display for the student's motivation. Some of the bigger prizes were a 24-inch TV, and DVD/VCR player. But even the smaller prizes looked promising, with an iPod Nano, a Play Station 2 and even 4.1 MP camera available for winning.

Even students who just came for the food could win a raffle prize. Every student was given a raffle ticket when they entered the Lower Hanger and every ten minutes five students were drawn and announced by Counselor Judy Morrison.

Students could choose from a variety of prizes like DVDs, board games like Cranium, brightly colored beach chairs, and even free meal tickets to In-n-Out Burger.

Brent Howard a junior this year thought the Pre-Spring Break Party was a success because "there were a lot of people there, the free food was great, and they were giving out a lot of cool prizes."
