It's that time of the year again, when all those celebrity gossip shows have finally shut the hell up on the latest fashion trends seen during the Oscars because, after all, there's absolutely nothing more important going on in the world. The time for actors, actresses, and crew members of movies who make millions to receive gold encrusted statues because "they deserve to be richer and have nicer things." Well it's the time they all get what's coming to them. The good get our praise, the bad our criticism. For the record, we reviewed 24 movies this school year, eight of them original stories, four of them sequels, and twelve of them remakes or a movie version of real events. So about half of the movies we saw where unoriginal or based on something we've seen before. Thank Hollywood because we all lost this school year.

Best "Flick"

Curr: It was between "Derailed" and "Crash", and just like in the Oscars "Crash" owned. And guess what: Hollywood didn't even make the film. It was independent, and Lions Gate Films bought it at the Toronto International Film Festival. So, FYI, Hollywood is in so bad they've had to outsource and buy their best movie for the year from an independent company. A vision of future things to come?

Cliff: I'll have to go with "Munich" on this one. In all honesty, I enjoyed "Crash" just as much, but since Curr already chose that one, I have to go for something else. Anyway, besides being just a good movie, "Munich" is the kind of film that makes you feel better about yourself after you watch it, for having sat through two-plus hours of grueling psychological inquiry.

Best Drama

Curr: A lot of people didn't like it but that's probably because their use to Hollywood making terrible movies and can't remember what a good one entails. "Derailed" has an interesting plot, good plot, and a great unforeseen plot twist at the end.

Cliff: I've read critics complaining about how they were able to see the plot twists in "Derailed" a mile off. Apparently I didn't get the psychic gene that other movie critics have, so it was all a surprise for me, and hence a good movie.

Worst Movie

Curr: For me it came down to "Fantastic Four" and "Stealth" in a no-holds-barred all-smothering bloody battle for this honor. That is, until "The Longest Yard" came out at the end of the first round and broke both of their necks. It was one of the stupidest, unfunny movies I've ever seen. Hollywood should have just dumped millions of dollars out of airplanes over our biggest cities because it would have been better and more productive for our economy.
