Women's Soccer stomps Bethel College 4-1

For colleges, Friday night-lights mean a time for football, cheerleaders and fans that fanatically represent their school spirit. However, at Embry-Riddle Friday night-light represent the school spirit held for both Women's soccer and volleyball.
Women's soccer would lead off the night with their 6:00pm game against Bethel College out of Kansas. The team is lead by Captains Andrea Dowling, Kalei Silva and Amanda Richie took their place on the field with 17 other women standing behind them. The Eagles took the field ready to show Bethel, the fans and themselves what game day truly meant.
Within the first ten minutes of the game the ladies eagles marched deep into bethel College territory. With a strong offensive drive and an amazing assist by Freshman Lauren Nash, JR. Amy Siersma was able to soccer the first opening goal. The crowd immediately went wild with the eagles having struck first.
Prior to the game Coach Lockett commented, "We are going to win, nothing less is accepted." With the eagles up early in the game the ladies were heading the right direction for a win.
As the game went on both goalies had their work cut out for them having to come up and make amazing defensive stop. As the teams went into half time the game would be tied at 1-1. The second have proved to be a fight for the lead, the eagles knew they wanted to dominate the game and dominate is what they did. With and assist by captain Andrea Dowling freshman Brittany Griffin was able to soccer her first goal at home helping the eagles recapture the lead.
However, the eagles proved they were not done yet with their quest for the goal. Kalei Silva helped Amanda Richie out with an amazing pass allowing Amanda to soccer another point for the eagles. With the team up now 3-1 fans could not help showing off their spirit with signs, cheers and body paint showing their love.
The game clock was starting to wind down yet the eagles were still playing like the game had just started with amazing passing and communication on the ball. A corner kick by freshman Alicia Valles allowed captain Kalei Silva a goal for the night as well. When the buzzer sounded and the game was called the Embry-Riddle Eagles managed to come out ahead of Bethel College with a 4-1 win.
After the game coach Lockett had this to say "We been working on defense for the pass few weeks and we played a lot better in that regard. Overall, the girls played well and hard we out shot Bethel College 44-6. They meant all of my expectations for the game."
