Face painting, king-of-the-hill, and carnival-styled games were just a few of the fun things to be done at this year's Alumni Relations October Festival. Located on the softball fields just shortly after the conclusion of the OctoberWest Parade on Friday Oct. 20, these festivities continued on through the Alumni Volleyball game.

Other highlights of this successful event were a live reggae band, and a character artist. Catering was provided by Chartwells and, in keeping with the theme of a High Desert Paradise, included jerk chicken, rum cake, tofu, and ice tea. The lines for this spicy food were constantly endless and lasted down to the last dregs.

One of the main attractions of the evening was the character artist, Jason Cheeseman-Meyer. Many students showed up for a free, funny, and memorable caricature with their friends or family and while the line was slow going at first, things got more interesting as the groups got bigger.

Another one of the main attractions was king-of-the-hill in which two competitors went head-to-head on top of an inflatable moon-bounce. In each round the competitors were given foam-padded jousting poles to knock the opponent of the hill with. Like many others, student Chris Lamey enjoyed watching the jousting, which was in high demand throughout the evening.

As did most people, Rob McConkie summed the evening with, "Arr… We're have a great time."
