There will be blood, sweat, tears: library moving day

Moving a library is a daunting task! We'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say that it's not just the books and the assorted media like newspapers and DVDs that are moving, but also the records and collection of materials (including the famous Kalusa miniature airplane collection) that dates back to the very beginning of the library here on the ERAU Prescott campus.
Planning the move from the present library, where it has been located since our early campus beginning in the 1970s, to the Christine and Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Library and Learning Center started at about the same time as construction work began on the new building.
One of the first decisions to be made was basic and yet crucial to the remainder of the process: how and when to move the collections. Teams of library staff, university construction, and administration personnel have been meeting constantly over the past 16 months to determine the processes for packing and moving the library. And now we are just weeks away from Opening Day at the new Hazy library, March 24th 2008 - just in time for your return from Spring Break.
Early in the planning process, the decision was made to close the present library while the collection was in transit. Thus, the present library will close at noon on Friday, Mar. 14 and the move to Hazy begins immediately, continuing through the weekend and the following week.
For students wondering about accessing library services during the move while the library is closed, we've prepared the following brief guide:
Once you have logged onto the ERAU network using your student login/password, simply type "Library" into the URL space at the top of your browser and you will be automatically redirected to the Library home page. To access articles using the databases, click on the "Resources" link from the top menu selections and then click on Articles/Databases. REMINDER: There are several different access points depending on the database. Databases designated "PC" can only be accessed through a computer here on campus. The rest of the databases designated YLN (Yavapai Library Network) or ERAU or EZ Proxy are available remotely from wherever you are logging in.
