Escape from Tonopah, Nevada

The drive was pleasant in the mid-afternoon, the view was incredible, thoughts focused on what the coming semester held in store. Then, a horrible SCREEEETCH followed by an ominous odor filling the car. Crap. Suddenly I was aware of the fact that I was in the middle of the desert a very long way from anywhere.

My Conscience is a Six-Year-Old

My Conscience is a Six-Year-Old

Everyone has some sort of standard on which they base their decisions. One very popular decision making method is to look to a hero and ask what they would do in a given situation. It's hard to forget the mid-90s fad that had everyone wearing neon colored bracelets and t-shirts asking W.

POW/MIA recognition day

A champion died this summer. Retired US Army Colonel Earl P. Hopper Sr. passed away in July at the age of 86. Highly decorated, Colonel Hopper's 30 year military career spanned service in World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War. Distractions are neccessary at Embry-Riddle

They usually wind up as a limp wristed compromise between a sporty coupe and a grocery getter.

Getting an On-Campus Job

For many students, going to college is the first chance to live without parents. While that means no more lists of chores, no more chauffeuring younger siblings, and a plethora of other tedious tasks, it can also mean no more allowance. Of course, there is not a huge need to go out and spend money beyond engineering paper, flight logs, or other school supplies, but the appeal of seeing a movie for five dollars or getting a decent meal outside of Chartwells is hard to ignore.

Where to go when claustrophobia sets in

The start of a new school year signifies the beginning of grueling class schedules and endless hours of studying. After spending hour upon hour holed up in your room, the white-washed walls seem to close on you, and the television becomes a hypnotizing distraction that pulls your will away from productivity.
